Having one lens that cover both long and short distance is really what you need as daily walk-out lens, and i think the best one is the new Nikon 18-300mm, I am happy with it, here is a shot of some Parrots that are more than 25meter away as a sample shot, Click Here to see all the images i have with this lens.

    I really love this picture of the birds… Parakeets? A different take on a theme that is often seen.
